Roos grab first win against Darras since 2014
WESTERNS snapped a three-year South West District Football League losing streak against Tyrendarra on Saturday, recording a 15.15 (105) to 6.4 (40) win at Alexandra Park.
Before the weekend’s result, the Roos had to look back to round six of the 2014 season to find their last win against the Darras – a 21-point victory at Alexandra Park.
Saturday’s contest was defined in a large way by the muddy surface of Alexandra Park, with the intermittent splashes of rain forcing players to work twice as hard in the grime and slosh.
Westerns set the tone in the first, creating nine scoring shots and holding Tyrendarra to just the one goal for the term to set up a 21-point first quarter advantage.
The Roos continued to push hard in the lead up to half time, sliding the margin out to 25 points off the back of a tremendous performance from Brad Clark in the ruck.
