Cannon top scores as Go-Ports take points
GORAE-PORTLAND has exited round 13 of the Portland and District Cricket Association with plenty of cause for celebration after defeating Portland Tigers at Hanlon Park on Saturday.
On the opening day of the two-day encounter Portland Tigers was removed in the first innings for just 117 runs – with Go-Ports making it to stumps at 2-53.
Portland Tigers struck early on the second day, removing threatening all-rounder Nick Wills for 24 via a clean delivery from Josh Atwell.
While Wills was quick to depart at the other end James Cannon resumed his best knock of the season – eventually dismissed for 70 runs from 171 balls faced, anchoring the entirety of the innings.
Joining Cannon was Stephen Easterbrook with a quickfire 39 and Stephen O’Brien with 34 – with Go-Ports declaring at 8-202.
Atwell was the best of the bowlers for Tigers with 3-46.
