Colts too good for Tyrendarra in one-day final
PORTLAND Colts are the champions of the one-day format in the Portland and District Cricket Association after defeating Tyrendarra in the final yesterday.
Contested at Hanlon Park in overcast conditions, Portland Colts won the toss and elected to bowl first.
With plenty of moisture in the wicket batting proved difficult in the opening innings, with Tyrendarra finishing at 6-135 after the allotted 40 overs.
While the majority of Tyrendarra’s top order struggled to gain traction opener Jake Wilson was a clear exception, showcasing excellent shot election and cruising to 44 before being dismissed.
With Sam Wilson (32) batting well alongside Ben Menzel (19 not out) – Tyrendarra finished with a modest yet defendable total.
