Chapple runs into good form during Colts’ second innings
PORTLAND Colts wicketkeeper James Chapple has made the most of his time at the crease during day two of his side’s Portland and District Cricket Association A grade two-day contest against Gorae-Portland at Henty Park on Saturday.
After Go-Ports wrapped up first innings points on day one last week, Colts had a chance to bat their second innings, with Chapple making 73 runs from 120 deliveries, with seven boundaries.
Chapple put on a 103-run partnership with John Grinstead (42 runs, three boundaries), saving Colts’ innings after they fell to 4-8 early on.
The day started with Go-Ports at the crease however, resuming its first innings at 7-117 with captain Damien Compton and Joel Egan batting.
The pair completed a 40-run partnership before Egan fell for 27, with the final two wickets falling in quick succession to end Go-Ports’ innings at 160.
