Southern 500 hosts huge weekend of racing
IT took plenty of hard work and rigorous organisation but the Southern 500 Speedway successfully made it through a massive weekend of racing across Saturday and Sunday.
Racing began on Saturday night with the headline event, the Bill Campbell Memorial, with Andrew Howard sprinting across the line and getting the job done in style ahead of Neville Gange and Michael Coad.
Joining the super rods was the production sedans, with Adam Wilson leading the way ahead of Robert Aldridge and Ryan Queale.
Two divisions of junior racing were also contested, with Kasey Garlick leading the way in the top grade ahead of Ricky Cornwall and Tannar Barclay taking away a win ahead of Holly Harris in the second grade.
The weekend’s proceedings then pushed into a second night with the Victorian Formula 500 State Titles hitting up the Heathmere track on Sunday.
