Express parcel service good for Sharp Airlines
A LUCRATIVE contract which has resulted in Sharp Airlines transporting express parcels between Essendon Airport to Warrnambool and Portland is proving successful for the airline.
Sharp chief executive officer Dallas Hay said the contract with Toll started in October last year and was ongoing.
“Toll made us aware as to what the volumes would be like and it has been good for everyone involved – we are meeting Toll’s requirements in a timely manner,” Mr Hay said.
He also said passenger numbers on the service between Essendon, Warrnambool and Portland were approaching sustainable levels since the new flight schedule was introduced last year.
“There has been a steady increase in support since the new schedule was introduced last October.”
Sharp restored a six days a week service between Portland and Essendon on October 16 last year.
It offers two services a day Monday to Friday, plus one on Sunday between Essendon to Warrnambool, Portland and return – a total of 11 return services a week.
