Former mayor to contest state election
FORMER Warrnambool City Council mayor Kylie Gaston says she will fight for increased job security and better educational outcomes at this year’s state election.
Ms Gaston, a Warrnambool City councillor, announced on Friday she had been preselected by the Labor Party as the candidate for the South-West Coast electorate, held by Liberal Roma Britnell.
She said she put her hat in the ring for a combination of reasons.
After growing up in Adelaide, she met and married Frenchman Jean-Philippe Gaston and moved to France in the early 1990s; however, by 2003, Ms Gaston and her family were ready to move back to Australia.
