Heathmere defeat strong Saints side
HEATHMERE is sitting in fourth position on the South West District Netball League ladder after a big 60-28 win against Branxholme-Wallacedale on Saturday.
The Saints took control of the first few centre passes, managing to convert quickly before the Meres could settle into their game.
Heathmere wasn’t on the back foot for very long as they picked up their intensity and got on top of the Saints with shooter Kayla Picket converting well, hitting 13 out of their 15 goals, to be leading 15-8 going into the second quarter.
The midcourt was well contested in the second term as Heathmere found more flow down the court with Maddi McNabb and Hayley Ball providing plenty of drive.
The Saints had a 21-goal deficit to make up in the third quarter and managed to create some important turnovers in their defensive end but struggled to convert, reflecting 47-19 on the scoreboard.
