OFF, AND BACK ON
THE South West District Football League round six senior game between Coleraine and Dartmoor was called off at quarter-time on Saturday, but reinstated play a short time later.
Umpires had decided to suspend the match at quarter-time, before the presidents of both clubs intervened, guaranteeing the umpires that their players would continue in a more sportsmanlike manner.
AFL Western District Region General Manager, Kate Williamson, released the following statement regarding the incident.
“AFL Western District is aware that the SWD Umpires used their discretion to suspend the SWDFNL Round 6 senior match between Coleraine and Dartmoor at Silvester Oval on Saturday afternoon,” Williamson said.
“Following the quarter time siren, the umpires felt that players were participating in unsportsmanlike behaviour and made the decision to not continue under those circumstances.
