Portland overcome by reigning premiers
PORTLAND was put to the sword by a strong Koroit outfit during round five of the Hampden Football League on Saturday, going down 18.11 (119) to 10.1 (61) at Hanlon Park.
The first half saw the Tigers take it to the reigning premiers, with the deficit at just 23 points, before the Saints took over with 10 goals to five in the second half.
Felix Jones put together his best game of the season for Portland, kicking two goals in a best on ground performance, with defenders Daniel Jackson and Tom Hernan, who switched from his normal forward line position, also among the best.
Jones was one of four players to boot two goals for the home side, joining playing coach Luke Crane, Jesse Murray and Tom Sharp.
Midfielder Levi Nagorcka was a standout for the Saints, best on ground for his efforts alongside Taylor McKenry and Lachlan Rhook, while Jarrod Korewha booted four of his six goals in the final term.
