Tigers on the board
A CLUTCH intercept from Portland midcourter Kerri Jennings has rallied Portland to its breakthrough maiden win of the Hampden Netball League season, defeating Terang Mortlake 57-56.
With less than a minute to go and her side down by one, Jennings intercepted a ball in the middle third and was able to get it down inside the circle, where the Tigers converted quickly.
Portland held the next centre pass and worked its way back inside the circle, where playing coach Lauren Hockley scored the go-ahead goal, with the siren sounding while the ball was being brought back to the centre circle.
Jennings’ game-winning play came after the Tigers gave up a four-goal lead in the third quarter and found themselves down four goals during the final term, before coming back.
