Future of four-year-old kinder in doubt
THE future of four-year-old kinder is under threat, with Budget documents revealed this week showing the Turnbull Government’s plans to withdraw $440 million in funding.
The shock cuts, due to take place in mid-2020, come as the finish date for the National Partnership Agreement on Universal Access to Early Childhood Education looms.
The agreement currently sees children aged four receiving 15 hours of kindergarten under a university-qualified educator per week.
In Victoria, 10 of these hours are State Government funded, although it is the remaining five hours, currently covered by the Federal Government, which are in doubt.
