Flood recovery enters final stages
IT has been just over two years since devastating floods impacted Southern Grampians, but Flood Recovery works are now heading into the final phase of infrastructure redevelopment.
Recovery works are on track with 2019’s June 30 completion date achievable, according to Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC).
As a result of weeks of heavy rain, floodwaters from the Glenelg River inundated Coleraine and many parts of the district with water levels peaking at six metres on September 9 and 10, 2016.
Flood Recovery works were quickly put in place with Coleraine being identified as a major town in need of infrastructure improvements, while Cavendish, Hamilton and Branxholme also had multiple requirements.
