Call for changes to dangerous stretch
COLERAINE CFA captain, Dick McIntosh, has said “enough is enough” and is calling for action to fix an accident-prone stretch of road, after another serious crash on the Hamilton hill on Tuesday morning.
The Coleraine woman, aged in her 50s, was driving to work along the Glenelg Highway at around 7.50am, when she lost control of her vehicle, driving over the embankment, and falling 20 metres down the hill.
Thinking quickly, the woman then crawled out of the vehicle and called her husband who alerted emergency services.
Fortunately, she escaped with minor head injuries and was taken via ambulance to the Hamilton Base Hospital for observation.
But Mr McIntosh said the situation could have been a lot worse.
