Drags strip ready for Chicago Shootout
THE South Coast Drag Racing Association is ready and raring to go ahead of the club’s second meeting of the 2018-19 season, the Chicago Shootout, taking place tomorrow.
With the gates open at 9am and the qualifying round firing up at 11am, there will be something for everyone out on the track.
With qualifying and elimination rounds taking place on the day, super street, super sedans, modified dragsters, junior dragsters and modified bikes will all tear up the track.
South Coast Drag Racing Association organiser Peter Berry said with conditions looking ideal, it was shaping up to be a perfect weekend for racing.
“The track is looking terrific by all reports,” Berry said.
“It’s been an absolute treat so far and with this little bit of rain we’ve had it will be good to wash the dust off the track.
“After that the smudger will run it down, it will have a spray and get its final preparation, and combined with the weather we’ve had lately and it looks like we’ll have this weekend, it’s going to be another great meeting.
“We’ve got five different types of vehicles ready for racing this weekend.
“We’re going to start up tonight with a very casual test and tune session as well as some off-street stuff, and that’s just mostly for the crews to spend some time out on the strip before Saturday.”
