PISTONS FIRE UP
IT was third time lucky for the Monivae Pistons, knocking off CTC Saints to claim the Hamilton Basketball Association division one men’s title on Wednesday night.
The Pistons lost to Athletics in the past two finals but broke through to claim the title by 23 points.
It didn’t take long for the Saints to find their radar, as Adam Jennings opened the scoring with a maximum in the opening 30 seconds of the game.
Dylan Starkie matched the effort for Monivae, as both teams’ shooting percentage was high from the outset.
The game opened up soon after, as it was end to end stuff with transition play proving important for both teams.
Tobi Cook chimed in with a three-pointer of his own, as Monivae skipped out to a 15-3 lead with more than 16 minutes still to play in the first half.
