20 drivers prove to be not-so-Roadwise
THERE were 3355 preliminary breath tests carried out across the region during the festive season police operation, with 20 drivers found to have been alcohol or drug-affected.
The statistics were revealed this week following the conclusion of the 24-day Operation Roadwise campaign on Sunday.
Acting road safety manager for the Southern Grampians region, Acting Senior Sergeant Dave Walkley, said police in his region look after roads in the Southern Grampians and Glenelg shires, and were kept busy.
“We issued a total of 373 infringement notices during that time.
“Police from every unit were tasked to carry out enforcement focusing on speed, fatigue and driver impairment.”
