Back for more! Summit Sportsman drags back in Portland tomorrow
THE South Coast Drag Racing Association is ready and raring to go ahead of one of the biggest meetings of the 2018-19 season this weekend, the South Coast 660.
Beginning with qualifying rounds tomorrow and concluding on Sunday with the elimination rounds, the South Coast Raceway will welcome the nation’s biggest names in drag racing for the sixth round of the 2018-19 Australian National Drag Racing Association’s Summit Sportsman Series.
More than 150 entrants have registered so far.
As far as divisions go there will be something for everybody, with competition, super stock, competition bike, super compact, supercharged outlaws, top sportsman, super sedan, modified bike, super street, junior dragster and super gas classes hitting the strip.
South Coast Raceway organiser Peter Berry said that with just three rounds remaining in the national competition, the action is seriously starting to heat up.
“We’ve got 156 entrants so far and I reckon it’s going to just about be as big as last time,” Berry said.
“It’s getting down to the bullet-end of business for the ANDRA series and the racing is really heating up.
“Most of the competition has come and gone and in my opinion this meeting is the real business end of things.
“The guys that are dedicated, fully determined to get that number one ranking, they’ll all be coming along.
“We’re expecting a huge roll-up with people coming from all over Australia to race.
“It’s going to be a huge field of cars, all running as hard as they can to get that number one spot.”
