Malseed, team ready for Tour Down Under
THE opening professional women’s race of the 2019 international cycling calendar is underway for Portland’s Shannon Malseed with the beginning of the Tour Down Under yesterday.
Taking place in the hills surrounding Adelaide, the Tour Down Under’s women’s competition is divided into four stages.
The first stage began yesterday in Hahndorf and concluded in Birdwood with a length of 112.9km, and the second begins today in Nuriootpa and finishes in Mengler Hill for a total distance of 116.7km.
Tomorrow’s stage three is long-distance once again, beginning in Nairne and concluding in Stirling for a distance of 104.5km, with everything wrapping up at the fourth stage in the city of Adelaide itself on Sunday – a 42.5km circuit.
Malseed will be joined by five teammates from Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank – Alison Jackson, Brodie Chapman, Sharlotte Lucas, Lauren Stephens and Alice Cobb.
