Customers urged to be wary of scam
Residents should be wary of a new phone call scam that addresses its victims by name and claims to be from the National Australia Bank’s (NAB) ‘Fraud’ or ‘Security Department’.
NAB has warnings on their website that individuals should never give their personal details to anyone claiming to represent a bank, because no bank will ever ask you for your account passwords or full credit card details over the phone.
A Hamilton local who does not wish to be named told The Spectator she had received a call from a supposed ‘NAB Security Department’ worker who knew her name and requested access to her bank account – despite the fact she had no accounts with NAB.
