Half century for Cowie, runs flow for Go-Ports
ROUND seven of the Portland and District Cricket Association’s under-16 season commenced on Tuesday evening, with a half century to Portland Colts’ Jake Cowie an early highlight.
Portland Colts play host to South Portland at Henty Park in the second last round of the home and away season and got off to a flying start, posting a total of 6-165.
At the top of the order Cowie was in stellar form, working his way to an unbeaten 50 from just 88 balls faced.
Cowie’s half century was his fourth score above 20 for the season and his first 50.
Joining Cowie on the scoreboard was Sam McDonald, batting at number four and running hard on his way to 44 from 65 balls before being caught.
South Portland captain Lachie Warburton was the best with the ball for his side, taking 2-12 from his six overs, while Chad Finck was a handy contributor with 1-12 from four overs.
