Record crowd for Dartmoor’s annual rodeo
LARGE crowds converged at the Dartmoor Recreation Reserve for the annual Dartmoor Chute Out Rodeo on Saturday.
Nearly 4000 people attended the 18th event with almost perfect conditions greeting what is thought to be the biggest crowd to the event.
Dartmoor Football Netball Club secretary Kim Pratt said everyone was happy with the turnout to the event.
“It was fantastic, probably one of our biggest crowds yet, we don’t have an actual figure just yet but between 3500-4000 I would say,” she said.
“We thought we had around 3500 last year, so we just wanted to beat that this time around and I think we have done that.”
Warm conditions made it pleasant, particularly once the sun started setting.
Pratt said there were plenty of strong performances from everyone to keep the crowd engaged throughout the evening.
“There were some really good performances, throughout every event there were some successful rides with some lasting the full eight seconds, something that has been rare in recent years,” she said.
