Some relief for power bills?
LOCAL power bills could fall under a proposal being put forward by distribution business Powercor – though there’ll be a little wait for householders to get the 46 cents a week cut.
The company, which distributes electricity in the south west as well as other parts of the state, is preparing a submission to the Australian Energy Regulator for the years 2021-2025.
It is looking to spend $2 billion in its distribution during the period on capital work, including $400 million directly relating to customer connections.
A further $121 million would be spent connecting wind farms to the network and $90 million to accommodate more solar and battery storage installations.
That amount is two per cent more than in the previous five-year period, which ends next year.
Powercor is also seeking approval from the AER to increase its operating expenditure by $100 million in the same period, to $1.4 billion.
