Sturzaker under the knife, takes on new role
ONE of Portland’s biggest recruits for the 2019 Hampden Football League season was due to go under the knife yesterday, and as a result the Tigers have reshuffled their leadership for the season.
30-year-old Daniel Sturzaker signed with Portland during the off-season as a much needed key position defender.
Sturzaker was originally a Tiger in the Western Border Football League era – playing in two premierships – and departed the club in 2010 for football in Geelong and the Northern Territory.
During preseason preparation Sturzaker injured his left knee and after extensive medical consultation, was judged to require a full knee reconstruction.
“It just happened at training, it was my first night with boots on and my foot got stuck in the grass and while my foot didn’t turn, my knee sure did,” Sturzaker said on Wednesday, prior to his surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital in
