Community to dig deep for Good Friday Appeal
VOLUNTEERS will be out in full force this Friday as they aim to raise crucial funds for the annual Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Community members from Portland, Heywood, Narrawong and everywhere in between will be taking to the streets to raise much-needed funds for equipment, research and education to support the work of the hospital.
Portland appeal coordinator and local Fire Brigade firefighter Stuart Richardson said staff and volunteers will out in full force from 9am.
“We have 30 volunteers from the CFA, SES, Coast Guard – all the emergency services – will be rattling tins outside the fire station, and trucks will be roving around town,” Mr Richardson said.
“We’ll have trucks in every section of town so no home will be left out.
“Portland is a pretty popular place for Easter, so any extra donations from tourists will be nice.”
In 2018, Portland volunteers raised an impressive $22,314.
