Malseed cuts loose in the US
PORTLAND international cycling export Shannon Malseed has dominated the Joe Martin Stage Race in the United States, booking in a podium finish after a thrilling week of racing.
Competing as a part of Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank, Malseed took on the four-stage race and finished second overall in the general classification.
Malseed’s best result came on day two, finishing first in a road race after a powerful sprint to the line.
Malseed took on the 42nd edition of the annual race alongside teammates Lex Albrecht (Canada), Alice Cobb (Great Britain), Sharlotte Lucas (New Zealand), Emily Newsom (United States of America) and guest rider Emily Marcolini (Canada).
The four-day series, based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, began with a 160km road race on Thursday April 4 – with Malseed finishing in second place, trailing leader Chloe Dygert by 15 seconds.
