Road works nearing end
WORK on the major freight roads in the Glenelg Shire is winding down with the approach of winter.
Regional Roads Victoria said it had finished work on the Portland-Nelson Rd for the season, having totally rebuilt three sites between Portland and Nelson and 3km across three sites between Nelson and the South Australian border while also sealing 5km across four sites between Portland and Mt Richmond.
It would continue to monitor the road and “address any issues that may arise”.
On the Princes Hwy, RRV was still completing 12km of final sealing between Mumbannar and the SA border, having “a very productive construction season” on the road thanks to a warm and dry summer.
This included major patching at six sites between Bolwarra and Heywood, rebuilding 12km between Dartmoor and Mumbannar, asphalting 13km between Heywood and Drumborg, 10km of asphalt repair between Heywood and Port Fairy and installing final seals at two sites near Mumbannar.
On the Henty Hwy there was still work to be done on two 1km sections south of Myamyn.
About 17km of asphalting had taken place between Portland and Condah.
