Tigers playing at home for first time in 2019
PORTLAND will play in front of a home crowd for the first time in 2019 tomorrow, hosting Port Fairy in the second round of the Hampden Football League season.
The Tigers remain in the hunt for the first win of the season in all three grades – seniors, reserves and under-18.5s.
Portland’s seniors began their season with a match up with North Warrnambool at Bushfield Oval, and looked on track for victory after leading by 25 points at the last break, only to see the Eagles storm home in the final term to steal a draw.
While missing out on a win was a point of frustration for the Tigers, strong performances from Harris Jennings and Aaron Shepherd were clear highlights, as was six thumping goals from star defender turned key forward Jake Wilson.
