Cash to fix local roads
ABOUT $2 million will go towards upgrading two key local roads with the work expected to help locals and tourists alike.
State Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney has announced funding for work to Heath Rd and Bridgewater Lakes Rd under the State Government’s Fixing Country Roads Program.
The $1.99 million in funding will partly be used for the second stage of Glenelg Shire Council’s Heath Rd rehabilitation program. About $70 million was available for projects statewide.
Acting Mayor Robert Halliday said it would include the completion of road repairs, shoulder widening and drainage improvements on sections of the road between Portland and Portland Airport.
“Heath Rd is also a popular route for local cyclists so this funding will ensure that this local road is better equipped for all types of road users,” Cr Halliday said.
