Hampden ready for interleague shootout with Ballarat
ALL the action and excitement of interleague football returns tomorrow with the AFL Victoria Community Championships taking place at venues across the state.
With state-wide bragging rights up for grabs, a representative side from the Hampden Football League will journey to Ballarat’s Mars Stadium and face a side from the Ballarat Football League.
Tomorrow’s encounter will the fourth game of Community Championships, with Hampden the seventh ranked league and Ballarat the eighth.
Hampden will be coached by Brisbane Lions legend and three-time AFL premiership player Jonathan Brown.
Brown, who played his junior football in South Warrnambool (he was in the Roosters’ senior side by age 15), played 256 games in the AFL and booted 594 goals at the elite level, and is now entering his third year as senior coach of Hampden’s interleague side.
