Heywood challenges reigning premiers
CAVENDISH got the better of Heywood, 61-50, in a hard fought A grade match in round six of the South West District Netball League competition on Saturday.
The Bloods set up the win with strong first (16-9) and third (19-9) quarters, however the Lions put up an impressive fight against the reigning premiers by winning the second (16-15) and last (16-11) terms.
Cavendish was missing the services of dominant shooter Emily Langley while Heywood’s Tayarrah Morris took to the court after missing the first few rounds due to injury. Cavendish was able to get ahead in the first quarter with some confident shooting from Clare Crawford sending them into the lead, 16-9.
The Lions came out in force in the second term, forcing errors down Cavendish’s attacking end and back into the safe hands of Morris and Laura Lovett-Murray to bring the margin down by one, 31-25.
