High winds, rain batter region
WINTER appears to have arrived for much of the state, with damaging winds, persistent rain and hail hitting our region this week.
Wind gusts of up to 106km/h were recorded at Cape Nelson on Tuesday night, followed up by additional peaks of 102km/h on Wednesday morning.
The Cape Nelson weather station recorded 40.6mm of rain over the past seven days, until 9am yesterday. It was the highest rainfall recorded for the south-west region.
Emergency crews remained busy this week, with SES volunteers and Glenelg Shire Council staff called out to trees falling across the road on Bridgewater, Foleys and Beaugleholes roads on Wednesday, in addition to seven jobs on Sunday.
