Pupils urged put their best foot forward
TODAY primary school pupils are encouraged to hit the pavement as part of national Walk Safely to School Day.
Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD) is an annual, national event when all primary school children are encouraged to walk and commute safely to school to learn about road safety, health and the environment.
The event also encourages parents, carers and children to regularly walking to and from school to help get at least 60 minutes of exercise per day, decrease car congestion and reduce carbon emissions.
Portland Primary School is one local school involved, with a ‘Walking School Bus’ meeting at the Big O Milkbar in Otway St at 8.20am today for the walk to school.
