Saints, Tigers wrestle in soaked conditions
THE well-oiled machine that is Koroit’s open side proved far too strong for Portland in Saturday’s Hampden Netball League competition.
Heading into the round five match up at Victoria Park, reigning premiers Koroit planned to recover from a surprise loss to Warrnambool the round prior and wasted no time getting to work.
The Saints set up a five-goal advantage in the pouring rain in the first quarter and with a 17-goal second quarter effort, held a double-digit buffer at the main break.
In the second half Portland managed to add an additional 18 goals to the team’s tally with the offensive quartet of Remy Grant, Tonaya Bannam, Sharlie Trigg and playing coach Lauren Hockley working well in unison.
