Tigers demolished by reigning premiers
PORTLAND’S tough spell within the Hampden Football League continued on Saturday, with Koroit inflicting a triple-figure belting on the luckless Tigers.
The fifth round of the 2019 home and away season saw Portland journey to Victoria Park to face reigning premiers Koroit and from the opening moments of the encounter a one-sided result was heavily foreshadowed.
Koroit recorded 14 scoring shots in the opening term, booting nine goals and holding Portland to just one in reply to set up an unassailable advantage.
With the Saints looking lethal early, Portland made a move and shifted Jake Wilson from full forward to full back and the former SANFL/VFL star defender wasted no time getting to work – crunching packs and showing his impressive agility and ability to navigate congestion despite his size.
