Local teams battle it out in A women’s grand final
THE A grade women’s South West Classic basketball grand final saw Sweaty Socks defeat local rival 20 Dollars, 68-38, on Monday.
Sweaty Socks were a tough line up to compete with as 20 Dollars pushed to shut down their offensive threats across the court.
Sweaty Socks established a comfortable lead early in the match when they capitalised on turnovers and rebounds to be ahead 39-21 at half time.
20 Dollars tried to make use of their rotations with Sally Morton making strong moves under the basket while Alexzia Morton found her range from outside.
20 Dollars lifted their defensive efforts but Sweaty Socks dominated with their speed down the lanes to keep pushing their lead out.
Danielle Marley and Kayla Pickert continued to lift for Sweaty Socks to help them maintain their lead in the late stages of the game and claim the 20-point victory.
