Tigers’ Jennings takes on VAFA
PORTLANDER Harris Jennings was given the chance to showcase his skills in front of AFL selectors on Saturday in an under-19 representative match in Melbourne.
AFL Victoria Country and a representative side from the Victorian Amateur Football Association clashed at Elsternwick Park in Melbourne, with 19-year-old Jennings lining up on the half back flank.
VAFA finished with a 17.15 (117) to 11.13 (79) win against AFL Victoria Country – the second win in a row for the league.
Portland’s Jennings said he was rapt he got the chance to take part.
“It was a good experience,” he said.
“I’ve never really been a part of something like that before so it was exciting to be involved.
“It was really well run, the coaches were good and it was obvious they really knew what they were talking about.
“(As far as the strength of the team goes) I don’t have a lot to compare it with because I’ve never done this program before, but there were some really good footballers involved in both teams.”
