Youth boost for Wood, Wine and Roses
HEYWOOD’S biggest annual party will get a major boost next year, with a group of young people coming on board to help out the Wood, Wine and Roses Festival.
The formation of a youth-orientated group as part of the festival committee was part of the recent Wood, Wine and Roses annual meeting.
Festival committee chairman Ross Barclay said he was delighted young people had wanted to help out.
“It’s probably one of the best things that has happened to us,” he said.
“We’ve been trying and trying for a long time to get youth involvement – we’ve got to look after them.”
The idea was the brainchild of 17-year-old Jack Fadersen, and it was welcomed by Mr Barclay.
“I was all for it straight away,” Mr Barclay said.
“There are some young ones out there wanting to get involved and it’s great that they want to.”
