Staying in tune from Narrawong to Nashville
HE’S travelling from Narrawong to perform in Nashville in September, and he’s also playing at the Portland Arts Centre this Saturday.
Justin Carter will be crooning at a Small Night In alongside Ashleigh Mannix for a cosy showcase of their band Little Georgia’s music, giving locals a special chance to see live our region’s biggest popular music success story.
Variously described as rock folk musicians with a sprinkling of blues and country, there’s no doubt that Little Georgia is a hard working act, despite its principal performers living 2000km apart from each other.
Ms Mannix is based in northern New South Wales and Mr Carter lives with his wife Robyn and son Luca, 2, on a 30 acre property overlooking Portland Bay.
A typical week for Mr Carter is to travel to Melbourne on Thursday, fly to meet Ms Mannix wherever their next performance is and put on a show before selling merchandise afterwards.
Sometimes they also have to drive on to the next town to stay for the night ahead of an early-morning radio interview before the next evening’s gig.
They are often performing in towns where they don’t know anyone, and may have to sleep on couches.
