Ember to climb two towers in two weeks
EMBER the Crisis Response Dog is known for her stair climbs, gentle nature and media work, and now she is taking a super-challenging step.
The four-year-old Labrador owned by Portland’s Natalie Brindle is taking on stairs at two fundraising climbs in Australia’s two largest cities over the next two weeks.
This Sunday, August 25, she will be doing the Sydney Tower Stair Challenge with her owner Natalie Brindle, pacing up 1504 stairs of Sydney’s iconic tower that features a rotating lookout and restaurant at the top.
Then on Saturday, September 7, she will join 600 firefighters, including Ms Brindle, to climb 476 stairs up 28 levels of Melbourne’s Crown Metropol Hotel, with Ember wearing her race-day gear and Ms Brindle donning 25kg of turnout gear as well as breathing apparatus.
The pair has been training on some of the region’s longest stair runs – the Nuns’ Beach and Bridgewater Beach climbs – as well as doing beach and flat-surface runs.
