Man dies after being stabbed near Portland toilet block
A LOCAL man, believed to be aged in his mid-20s, has died after being stabbed during an incident in the city’s central business district early yesterday morning.
A 25-year-old Portland man was arrested around midday yesterday over the incident.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the victim presented at Portland District Health following the incident.
“A man attended Portland Hospital with stab wounds shortly before 12.30am,” the spokeswoman said.
“He received emergency treatment however died in hospital.”
The identity of the victim has not been disclosed to the public.
The police spokeswoman said it is believed an incident occurred in the vicinity of the Henty St public toilet block shortly after midnight.
“A crime scene has been established and the area has been cordoned off.”
The spokeswoman said the police were not looking for anyone else in relation to the matter at this stage.
