Tigers refuse to go quietly
THE 2019 Hampden Football League season has been full of trials and tribulations for Portland, but on Saturday a young senior side struck back, recording a six-point win on the road in horrendous conditions.
Round 16 of the home and away season sent the last-placed Tigers to DC Farren Oval, the home of Terang-Mortlake, and Portland returned home with the four premiership points in hand after a thrilling final quarter.
Portland playing coach Tom Sharp said it was a win a lot of the side’s younger players would reflect on in time to come.
“Everyone was naturally rapt to get a win,” he said.
“I think we’ve really been in a lot of contests late this season but gone missing for patches of play that cost us the win.
“This time around though we came from behind and got the win, and that should give this group a lot of confidence moving into the future.”
