Tyrendarra march through to South West grand final
TYRENDARRA has marched into the 2019 South West District Football League grand final after a 10.15 (75) to 5.8 (38) second semi-final victory against Westerns on Saturday.
In a second half triumph the Darras shut down Westerns’ run off the wings and suffocated the contest to charge ahead.
After an up and down season Tyrendarra has shown some impressive form across their last month, which was highlighted on Saturday when they got off to a slight lead in the first quarter.
Westerns hit back strongly in the second term, using their quick transition and strong forward targets.
Marcus England and Martin Curtis gave their side plenty of opportunities moving out of the contest to bring back the margin and help them trail by just one point at half time.
Tyrendarra then lifted in the third quarter and matched the Roos in the contest to prevent their quick outside run.
“We knew they loved the outside run so we focused on shutting that down,” Tyrendarra playing coach Matt Peters said.
