Author Lainie Anderson coming to Portland
THE Portland library will host award-winning journalist and best-selling author Lainie Anderson for a free event this Wednesday.
The Adelaide Sunday Mail’s weekly columnist will be speaking about her new book Long Flight Home, a historical novel based on war diaries, letters and her research.
Long Flight Home recreates one of the most important – and largely forgotten – chapters in world aviation history, the 1919 Great Air Race, the world’s first flight from England to Australia.
Narrated by real-life crew member Wally Shiers, it’s a true story about Australians taking on the world and winning.
Ms Anderson was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2016, which allowed her to travel through nine countries to gauge the significance of the 1919 flight.
Wednesday’s event will run from 5.30-7pm. For bookings phone 5522 2265.
