Big turnout as Portland parkrun pays tribute to its founder
MORE than 90 people converged on Fawthrop Lagoon on Saturday morning to celebrate Allan Hoskins, the man who brought parkrun to Portland.
Runners from Hamilton and Melbourne joined local runners to celebrate the life of Mr Hoskins, who passed away last week after a long battle with cancer.
Held just hours before the AFL Grand Final, participants were encouraged to don the colours of their footy team.
Fittingly, there was a sea of yellow and black in tribute to Mr Hoskins, whose beloved Richmond Tigers won the 2019 premiership that afternoon.
Mr Hoskins’ funeral will be held today (Tuesday) at 2pm, at the Portland Golf Club.
