Huppatz, Jones rewarded for stellar seasons
FORMER Portland footballer Lochie Huppatz has been named the Geelong West Giants senior football best and fairest winner after a strong season in the Geelong Football League.
Huppatz has been in outstanding form in 2019 with the Giants, earning himself a spot in the league’s Interleague team when they played in the AFL Community Championships and earning a spot in the Geelong Football Netball Club’s senior football team of the year.
It was tough competition this year in the league with Huppatz’s Giants finishing in 10th spot on the ladder among the 12 teams.
Huppatz’s standout season saw him kick 11 goals for the year and his name listed in the best in 11 of their 18 games.
One of his best performances in the season was his four-goal haul against Grovedale in round 14 where he took out best on ground.
Jamaine Jones finishes seventh in Geelong VFL count
Jamaine Jones has capped off his impressive year with the Geelong Cats VFL side finishing in seventh position in their best and fairest count.
The top 10 finish was a highlight of Jones’ season with teammate Sam Simpson taking out the top award.
It has been a big season from the young star booting 15 goals and playing a crucial part in the Cats’ 2019 campaign.
