Roos earn grand final berth after thrilling triumph
THE South West District Netball League preliminary final was one for the ages with Westerns snatching a come-from-behind victory in overtime against Cavendish, 60-56, to move through to Saturday’s grand final.
The Bloods controlled the tempo of the match from the outset with the Roos refusing to give up throughout the contest and hitting their stride when it counted late in the game to send the match into overtime.
Westerns lifted in the extra 14 minutes and with some strong intercepts from their defensive unit they took the upper hand late in the match and ran away with the win.
Co-coaches Toni Rowe and Vicki Clayton were ecstatic with the win, saying the hard work from during the season has paid off.
“I am just so, so proud of the girls; we were behind for most of the game but we had the belief that we could do it,” Clayton said.
