Second half takeover lands Tigers in semis
PORTLAND has moved one step away from a Hampden Football League under-18.5 grand final following a driven qualifying final victory over Camperdown on Saturday.
After finishing the home and away season in second and third respectively, Portland and Camperdown met at Hamilton’s Melville Oval in the qualifying final.
Portland overcame a slow start to reach the final siren with a commanding advantage, 13.7 (85) to 8.3 (51) and as a result will progress through to the second semi-final against top team South Warrnambool this Saturday.
The winner of that match is the first side through to the grand final.
While the Tigers were ecstatic following the victory, it wasn’t always smooth sailing in Hamilton on Saturday.
