Colts clean up South
PORTLAND Colts have recorded their second win of the Portland and District Cricket Association’s A grade season, getting the better of South Portland at Henty Park on Saturday.
The second round of the home and away season sent South Portland to Henty Park’s hard wicket in search of a win against the competition’s reigning premiers.
Colts won the toss and with the ever-present threat of rain looming, decided to bat first.
Colts’ opening duo of Luke Andrews (21 from 53 balls) and Scott Hamilton (52 from 53) got the ball rolling with a 60-run partnership before the loss of a wicket.
Young South Portland all-rounder Mitch Arnold picked up the wicket of Andrews and followed it up with Hamilton soon after, and while wickets fell sporadically for the remainder of the innings, crucial double-digit partnerships from the middle order managed to push the score out to a defendable 9-138.
Lachie Warburton picked up 3-35 from his eight overs, while English recruit Liam Walker impressed with a tidy 2-22.
