Plans in place for WDHS to deal with coronavirus
ALTHOUGH the region is yet to have a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19), Western District Health Service
(WDHS) believes it is prepared to effectively deal with the virus that was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation this week.
A WDHS spokesperson said management and staff had been developing a comprehensive response plan over the past month to prepare for the spread of the virus locally, which was implemented “several weeks ago”.
“The WDHS staged approach initially ensured that our emergency department (ED) staff were fully trained and prepared, should individuals present with COVID-19 symptoms,” the spokesperson said.
